2nd time in six months: Donald Trump to undergo ‘routine yearly check-up' — Is US President's health in question?

US President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday for a ‘routine yearly check-up,’ the White House announced Wednesday, ahead of a potential trip to the Middle East. This marks the second visit to Walter Reed for an exam since Trump returned to the White House in January. His previous checkup included cognitive and cardiology tests, though details of the upcoming visit have not been disclosed, as cited by the Guardian.“On Friday morning, President Trump will visit Walter Reed Medical Center for a planned meeting and remarks with the troops,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement on Wednesday. “While there, President Trump will stop by for his routine yearly check-up. He will then return to the White House,” Leavitt added. In April, Trump underwent his annual physical at Walter Reed, which included diagnostic and laboratory tests, offering the public a first glimpse into his health during his second term. The White House health report said that Trump is “fully fit to execute the duties” of the presidency, highlighting that his “frequent victories in golf events” have supported his “excellent” physical and mental health.Since his April exam, Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition common in older adults that can cause leg swelling. A bruise on the back of his right hand, sometimes reportedly covered with makeup, has fueled speculation in recent months.Concerns about the bruising on his hand, first attributed by the White House in February to frequent handshakes, were later clarified in a July report by his physician as a side effect of his daily aspirin regimen for cardiovascular prevention.Trump, 79, became the oldest person ever elected president in November, slightly older than former president Joe Biden was at his 2020 election. His health sparked online speculation after he went several days without public appearances ahead of Labor Day weekend.“NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE!” Trump said at that time.Trump’s former physician, Harold Bornstein, said that during the 2015 presidential campaign, Trump dictated a statement credited to Bornstein that described his health as “astonishingly excellent.”Bornstein also said that during a 2019 Walter Reed visit, Trump requested staff to sign nondisclosure agreements for the appointment, which was later revealed to be a colonoscopy, as reported by NBC News.
