The Kremlin reacted strongly to US President Donald Trump’s “paper tiger” remark, and said Russia is a bear and there are no “paper bears”.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years with Ukraine, and it is very much making them look like “a paper tiger.”
In a pivotal shift from his earlier stance, the US president said he thinks that Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, has a chance to win all territories that Russia has been occupying since 2022. He hinted that Russia’s economy is in big trouble and called on Ukraine to act now.
“After gaining a thorough understanding of the military and economic situation in Ukraine and Russia, and considering the economic troubles it is causing Russia, I believe Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and win back all of Ukraine in its original form… Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like ‘a paper tiger’,” he said.
Trump’s remark came after he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.
Trump also extended support to Ukraine and said the US will continue to supply weapons to NATO, which would deliver them to Kyiv.
“When the people living in Moscow, and all of the Great Cities, Towns, and Districts all throughout Russia, find out what is really going on with this War, the fact that it’s almost impossible for them to get Gasoline through the long lines that are being formed, and all of the other things that are taking place in their War Economy, where most of their money is being spent on fighting Ukraine, which has Great Spirit, and only getting better, Ukraine would be able to take back their Country in its original form and, who knows, maybe even go further than that!” the US president wrote on Truth Social.
