Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor has said it is “very much possible” that he will run against opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav in the upcoming Bihar polls.

Kishor, whose party has emerged as the third force in Bihar’s political arena, is confident that people will “defeat the current government”.

“People of Bihar will defeat the current government. Jan Suraaj has made a home in the hearts of the people of Bihar,” Kishor told News18 in an interview.

Kishor said there is a high possibility that he may contest from Raghopur against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who is part of the opposition Mahagathbandhan that is known as the INDIA bloc at the national level.

“It is very much possible that I will contest from Raghopur against Tejashwi Yadav. I am going there on October 11,” he said.

He said Tejashwi, a former deputy chief minister, is making false promises on providing employment to the youth.

“Tejashwi Yadav’s promise of giving a government job to every family is laughable and impossible. People will see through such falsehoods,” he added.

Besides, the former political strategist – who has designed successful election campaigns for the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal and the DMK in Tamil Nadu – has some plans for Bihar as well.

“I will end prohibition in Bihar when we win. I always thought Nitish Kumar’s decision to impose prohibition was a wrong one,” he said.

Talking about why people should vote for Jan Suraaj, he stressed on the fact that his party’s candidates are “clean”. “No criminal, no rich person on the list. My party has given tickets to clean candidates, not moneybags or bahubalis. Can any other party do this?” he asked.

Jan Suraaj Party has released its first list of 51 candidates. Kishor, who calls his party a “movement”, has emerged as a new player in the field and has pitched himself as a “changemaker”, or rather a “saviour of sorts”, so that people can have an alternative to the main players — the BJP-led NDA, of which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) is a major ally and the INDIA bloc that consists of the RJD, which is the main opposition in Bihar.

The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the Bihar polls. The 243-seat assembly will go to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the counting of votes scheduled to take place on November 14.
