Ray Lee, better known online as Ray Asian Boy, has quickly become one of the most talked-about streamers on the internet. The 22-year-old Taiwan-born content creator went from being a random face in a viral stream to a global name in just two years. His story began in Japan in 2023, when he accidentally met popular streamer Kai Cenat outside a 7-Eleven. That single moment changed his life forever. Since then, Ray has built millions of followers across TikTok, Twitch, and Instagram, all through charm, humor, and authenticity.

How Ray Asian Boy’s viral 7-Eleven moment with Kai Cenat changed his life

Before coming to Japan for a short visit in 2023, Ray Lee, real name Chen-Ruei Hsu, grew up in Taiwan. His life went suddenly in a different direction there. Ray’s genuine demeanor delighted fans, and he quickly started showing up in Kai’s streams and social media videos. Ray formally started his TikTok account in July 2023, where his relatable comedy and odd antics quickly earned him a follower favorite. He acquired over 4.4 million followers in a few months. He branched out early in 2024 to Twitch, where his broadcasts attracted almost 2.4 million viewers. But success did not come effortlessly. Ray went off social media for a long hiatus early in 2025; therefore, admirers speculated whether he had gone back to Taiwan for required military service. In March 2025, he came clean; he did not join the military but rather had a “mental vacation” to concentrate on his health.
