The BJP on Wednesday targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his upcoming visit to Germany, calling him the “Leader of Paryatan” and accusing him of prioritising foreign tours over parliamentary responsibilities.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said Gandhi was once again doing “what he does best,” alleging that the Leader of Opposition was leaving the country even as the Winter Session continues till December 19. Reports suggest Gandhi will travel to Germany from December 15 to 20.

The BJP also linked the timing to past elections, with Poonawalla recalling that Gandhi was abroad during the Bihar polls and later went on a jungle safari. “Videsh Nayak is going for another foreign tour,” he said, adding that the Congress leadership routinely absents itself from key political moments.
Poonawalla further added, “When he loses elections, he says, why are we losing elections? But by the way, his mind is not in the middle of the people. It’s only in tour and travel. Only in foreign tours. This is Rahul Gandhi.”
The Indian Overseas Congress confirmed that Gandhi, accompanied by IOC chairperson Sam Pitroda, will engage with the Indian diaspora and meet German government ministers during the six-day visit.
“The Member of Parliament and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will visit Germany from December 15 to 20,” Balwinder Singh, president of IOC Germany, said. Vikram Duhan of IOC UK said the meetings would provide a platform to discuss India’s global role and strengthen exchanges with German legislators and the diaspora community.
