Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday thanked the people of Goa for extending strong support to the BJP–MGP-led NDA in the Zilla Panchayat elections.

In a post on social media, the Prime Minister said Goa stands with good governance and progressive politics. He expressed gratitude to the people of the state for blessing the BJP–MGP (NDA) family and said the mandate would add greater vigour to efforts aimed at Goa’s growth.

PM Modi said the NDA remains committed to fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of the people of Goa. He also lauded the party’s grassroots workers, stating that the hard work of NDA karyakartas on the ground played a key role in the electoral outcome.

“Our hardworking NDA Karyakartas have done commendable work on the ground, which has led to this result,” he wrote on X.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also hailed the BJP’s performance in the Zilla Panchayat elections, stating that the party emerged as number one in the state.

In a post on X, Sawant thanked the people of Goa for placing their trust in the BJP and congratulated the newly elected Zilla Panchayat members of the BJP–MGP (NDA) alliance.

He said the mandate reflected public faith in the “Double Engine Sarkar” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and acknowledged the guidance of BJP national leaders.

Sawant also praised the party’s karyakartas in Goa for their efforts and expressed confidence that the BJP-led alliance would work towards development, transparent governance, and the goal of a Viksit Goa and Viksit Bharat.

BJP Tops With 23 Seats

BJP consolidated its position by emerging as the single largest party, winning 23 of the 50 seats. The Congress secured nine seats, while the remaining seats were won by regional parties and independent candidates.

Despite emerging as the single largest party, the BJP saw its seat count drop sharply from 33 in the previous elections to 23 this time. Meanwhile, the Congress registered gains, raising its tally from four seats earlier to nine seats in the current polls.

The rural body elections were held for the two Zilla Parishads—North Goa and South Goa—where over six lakh voters cast their votes. The BJP had formed an alliance with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), while the Congress tied up with the Goa Forward Party for these elections.
