Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy on Monday launched a sharp political attack on former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), asserting that the Congress would return to power with a decisive mandate in the 2028 Assembly elections.

Addressing a public meeting in Kodangal during a felicitation programme for newly elected sarpanches, Revanth Reddy declared, “If elections are held for 119 Assembly constituencies, Congress would win 87 seats, and if the number of constituencies increases to 153, the party would secure over 100 seats. This is my open challenge. As long as I am in politics, KCR will never return to power. BRS and KCR chapter is over.”

The Chief Minister challenged BRS leaders to engage in debates on the floor of the Assembly instead of making allegations outside. “We are ready to discuss any issue—Kaleshwaram project, Krishna–Godavari water sharing, or phone-tapping allegations—in the Assembly,” he said.

Taking a swipe at BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), Revanth Reddy said leaders who could not respond to allegations within their own families had no moral authority to challenge the government. He also dismissed threats and intimidation, asserting that the Congress government would not be cowed down.

“KTR’s own sister (Kavita), is making allegations. She was thrown out of the house on the assumption that she would demand a share in the property. First resolve that issue, and then speak about us,” Reddy said.

Revanth Reddy reiterated his commitment to developing Kodangal as a model constituency and announced steps to strengthen grassroots governance. He said a Special Development Fund of Rs 5 lakh would be provided to small gram panchayats and Rs 10 lakh to major gram panchayats, with funds to be released directly to sarpanches from the Chief Minister’s Fund, in addition to state and central allocations.

Highlighting the government’s welfare initiatives, the Chief Minister said fine rice was being supplied to poor families, 200 units of free electricity were being provided, free bus travel for women had been introduced in RTC buses, and one crore sarees were being distributed to one crore women. He added that Rs 9,000 crore had been disbursed under the Rythu Bharosa scheme within nine months.

He urged sarpanches to ensure that welfare schemes reached all eligible beneficiaries and to immediately bring any gaps in implementation to the government’s notice.

Accusing the previous BRS government of neglecting the Palamuru region for a decade, Revanth Reddy said not a single major project had been completed during its tenure. “While individuals earned massive wealth, Palamuru did not receive water,” he alleged, adding that the present government had initiated steps to revive stalled projects despite inheriting a heavy debt burden.

Stressing the role of education in social transformation, the Chief Minister said the government would provide breakfast and lunch along with schooling from the next academic year. “Educate your children; they should become officers and partners in rebuilding Telangana,” he said.

Reiterating his political challenge, Revanth Reddy said Kodangal would stand witness to the Congress party’s return to power in 2028.
