‘AI Video’: TMC MLA Clarifies Controversial Ram Remark, BJP Accuses Him Of Insulting Hindu Gods – Delhi News Daily

The controversy erupted after a video clip went viral on social media platforms, showing Mitra addressing a public gathering where he is heard making remarks about Lord Ram.

Trinamool Congress MLA Madan on Thursday issued a clarification over the ongoing controversy over his purported remarks on Lord Ram, saying that the viral video is “absolutely doctored, AI-generated and fabricated.”

While speaking exclusively to CNN-News18, Mitra said he had never made any statement as claimed by the BJP.

“This is absolutely a doctored AI-generated, fabricated video. I have not said anything like this. I have only said does Ram have title? He is Dev to us,” he told CNN-News18.

A political slugfest broke out after a purported video surfaced on social media platforms in which the Kamarhati MLA can be seen addressing a public gathering and is heard making controversial remarks about Lord Ram’s religious identity.

The video sparked outrage from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which accused the ruling TMC of repeatedly insulting Hindu beliefs.

BJP Slams Mitra

BJP’s West Bengal unit criticised Mitra and said that TMC leaders “cannot help but insult Hindu Gods and Hindu beliefs.

“@AitcOfficial leaders cannot help but insult Hindu Gods and Hindu beliefs it seems. Now TMC MLA Madan Mitra says Lord Ram was a Muslim, Not Hindu. This continuous abuse of our culture and history is not a slip of tongue! Rather it is a no-so-subtle message to illegal Bangladeshis, that the TMC is the most Hindu Birodhi party, and therefore represents their beliefs,” the party said in a post on X.

It claimed that such statements reflect the ideological position of the TMC and asserted that “in a few more months, such anti-Hindu leaders will no longer be in power.”

BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari also slammed the TMC leader, calling it a “deliberate insult to Hindu faith.”

“This is what the TMC has degenerated into: Daily attacks on Hindu beliefs, Mocking Hindu faith and traditions of Bengal’s people, and Cheap provocation to appease a vote bank,” he said in a post on X.

Bhandari further claimed that the silence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee amounted to tacit approval.

“Such statements don’t come from ignorance alone; they come from political patronage. When Mamata Banerjee chooses to stay quiet, it becomes clear that this insult has her approval,” Bhandari added.
