Six events in a day in Gujarat, followed by day-long government events in Assam that ended with a late-night political meeting in West Bengal where he camped for the next two days and a detailed stock of the state party unit’s election preparation against Mamata Banerjee. This was Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah’s year-end, a gruelling schedule of eight days.

2025 ended on a busy streak as Shah went on a work frenzy on December 28, fitting in six events in Ahmedabad in a day. He started by attending an event organised by the Indian Medical Association at 10:30 in the morning, closely followed by inaugurating a drainage pipeline at Sardar Patel Ring Road in an hour’s difference. At 12 pm, Shah distributed land to those who were displaced due to land erosion in Sabarmati. The Union Home Minister’s fourth event of the day was at 1 pm, visiting a pilot project, the fifth event a Youth Business one at 4 pm, and the last event — a cultural event called ‘Namotsav’ at 6 pm. Shah’s current parliamentary constituency is Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

The next day saw Shah’s day-long event in the North East’s Assam. In a slew of government events that started with a flower-laying ceremony at the Martyrs’ Memorial at Shahid Smarak in Guwahati at 10:15 am, he attended events such as the inauguration of the Batadrava Than Development Project in Nagaon in an hour, to the inauguration of the newly constructed Police Commissioner’s Office Building and Command Centre at Khanpara in the afternoon. Shah’s last event in Assam on the 29th was the inauguration of the Jyoti Vishnu Auditorium.

He flew to Kolkata late at night, wearing the BJP leader’s hat, to a grand welcome by party cadres who were waiting outside the airport, for whom he got down and waved before getting back into the car, and heading straight to the BJP Office at Salt Lake where he chaired a party meeting with state leadership along with state in-charges and state’s election in-charges.

The following day, he started with a big press conference where he sounded confident of the NDA coming to West Bengal with a two-thirds majority, giving enough hint that for the BJP, illegal infiltration will be the biggest electoral issue.

After the press conference, he held an organisation meeting of the party, followed by another huddle at a private hotel. The day ended with a few hours-long closed-door meeting between Shah and RSS functionaries of West Bengal.

On the last day of the year, Shah offered prayers at Thanthania Kali temple in Bengal, followed by another set of organisational meetings at a private hotel before he met all BJP MPs and MLAs at Science City Auditorium — the schedule first reported by News18. Even candidates who lost in the last elections were invited to Shah’s meeting. Shah instructed Bengal BJP MPs and MLAs to spend at least four days each week on the ground — holding five to six rallies or corner meetings daily and conducting door-to-door outreach across the state — making this intensive fieldwork a key criterion for renomination.

Shah left for Delhi late in the evening on the 31st, after giving the task to the Bengal unit. Having spent the first day of the year — an unusual weekday at the North Block — Shah held a high-profile meeting on Manipur on January 2 at his residence. The meeting was attended by Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Manipur Government Advisor Kuldiep Singh, Chief Secretary PK Goel, and Director General of Police Rajiv Singh. The meeting comes at a critical time, as President’s Rule in Manipur is set to end on February 13, New Year. Sources indicated that the January 2 deliberations reviewed recent developments on the ground, assessed the prevailing law and order situation, coordinated security deployment, and discussed development initiatives aimed at rebuilding communities affected by prolonged unrest.

On January 3, Shah went to the Andamans, where he first held a meeting of the consultative committee of Home Affairs in the morning, followed by inaugurating an exhibition in the afternoon at ITF Field in Sri Vijaya Puram. He gave a much-needed infra push to the area where he inaugurated a few government projects, as well as laid the foundation stone of some. The Great Nicobar Island Development Project, which refers to an Indian government plan to build a major port, airport, city, power station, and military base on Great Nicobar Island, aiming to transform it into a significant trade hub, isn’t far from Andaman.

The very next day, on January 4, Shah was in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli, where he attended a community outreach event followed by a BJP state core group meeting. Shah stayed in Tiruchirappalli, where on Monday, he is slated to visit Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple and attend a Pongal festival, wooing the Tamil sentiments, while weaving a pre-poll alliance, away from the media glare.
