Parliament Budget Session 2026 Live: Both houses of the Parliament are set to resume today, a day after intense debates and a massive uproar over Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the unpublished memoirs of former Army Chief M M Naravane.

All eyes are on the proceedings as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to deliver his address to the Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu’s address tomorrow, February 4. In the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Tejashwi Surya backed the motion on Monday.

Heated Scenes In Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha, on Monday, witnessed fiery scenes after LoP Rahul Gandhi referred to unpublished memoirs of former Army Chief M M Naravane. As he criticised the goevrnment on India-China clashes, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah stood up and objected, saying an unpublished book cannot be quoted in the House.

As LoP Gandhi continued speaking, several BJP MPs protested, leading to continued uproar and heated debates. Eventually, the house was adjourned by Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla.

India-US Trade Deal

The proceedings also follow the much-anticipated India-US trade deal, with the reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods lowering to 18 per cent.

US President Donald Trump on Monday announced that he had finalised a trade deal with India that lowers US reciprocal tariffs on Indian commodities to 18 per cent from 25 per cent.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘great friend’, saying he spoke to him on a range of issues, including the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
