Kerala’s tourism department has sparked a wave of attention with a playful and sly promotional poster featuring the tagline, “No beef with anyone… that’s our recipe for happiness.”
The poster, shared across all of Kerala Tourism’s social media platforms on Thursday, features an elderly man and a foreigner sitting together, sipping tea and sharing a smile.
The image is accompanied by the message: “Love, harmony and hearts big enough for everyone. Welcome to God’s Own Country.”
The post, widely shared, comes amid growing controversy over the upcoming release of ‘The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond‘, the second part of a film that has already been at the heart of political and religious disputes.

The Kerala tourism campaign’s light-hearted approach appears to be a direct response to the ongoing row about the film, which centres on religious conversion.
The first part of ‘The Kerala Story‘ faced heavy criticism from Kerala’s ruling Left government, who accused the film of being BJP-backed propaganda. Now, with the sequel set for release on February 27, controversy has intensified.
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, ‘The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond‘ stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha. The film portrays the stories of three Hindu women who are allegedly coerced into marriage and conversion to Islam, with some trailers depicting a character being force-fed beef.
Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had condemned the film, accusing it of spreading hate and undermining the state’s secular values. “Having already seen through the communal agenda and blatant lies of the first part, Kerala will once again reject this attempt to demonise our secular fabric with contempt,” he shared on X.
