Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, during a conversation with CNN-News18’s Rahul Shivshankar at Rising Bharat, slammed Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the trade deal with the US.
On meeting with United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, he said, “We will need more technology for development…There was a cow and calf…”
When asked if he explained the significance of dairy, Goyal said, “Just because one Rahul doesn’t understand, doesn’t mean other Rahul won’t…I won’t say like Shah Rukh Khan, Rahul, naam toh suna hoga…Dairy, MSMEs, rice, wheat, maize have been protected…Does he even understand maize? I have announced that there are no exemptions on soyabean, poultry… GM foods won’t come to India…Rahul ji misleads people on the basis of false pretext. I feel sad that he is misleading our innocent farmers. May be, he is compromised. The Gandhi family has been compromised for years…I have recently spoken about it. Rahul Gandhi is playing in the hands of international powers…He is misleading India…The deal protects India and its youth…It looks to make India Viksit. Rahul Gandhi ji has not understood it or may be it is beyond his understanding.”
Questioning the Youth Congress protest at the AI Summit, Goyal said, “It was a shameful act at a time when 20 foreign leaders were here…To belittle our development, opportunities was the worst anti-national act which needs to be condemned in the strongest words…Their anti-India stand has been exposed…They can’t digest India’s progress and try to run it down. It must have been planned at the very high level of Congress… There has only been one family at the top for 100 years. I will not be surprised if the protest had the blessing of the leadership…”
Reiterating his statement on the US trade deal, Goyal said, “For us, the US is an important trading partner, strategic and technological partnership…for Quads, Pax Silica… The US is an evolving situation. We are in dialogue with the administration in the US. We will have to wait and watch and ensure interests of India are protected. I want to assure that India stays committed to engaging for the best possible opportunities which were negotiated with the US for a deal that gives us competitive advantage.”
