Accused Yerriswamy allegedly posed as a media adviser to Congress leaders and gained the woman’s trust by showing photographs with politicians

A woman from Mangaluru has alleged that she was cheated of Rs 1.5 crore by a man who allegedly promised to secure her a nomination to the Legislative Council in Karnataka.
According to the complaint, the accused, Yerriswamy, allegedly posed as a media adviser to Congress leaders and gained the woman’s trust by showing photographs with politicians. He allegedly claimed that Rs 5 crore would secure her an MLC post and is accused of collecting Rs 1.5 crore between August 2024 and January 2025.
The complainant has alleged that Yerriswamy instructed her to hand over the money to his associates, Siddaraju and Basavaraju. The cash was allegedly collected near Teachers’ House at Mysore Bank Circle and KC General Hospital in Malleswaram.
The woman has also alleged that Yerriswamy took her to New Delhi on the pretext of arranging meetings with AICC leaders and sexually harassed her.
Based on the complaint, Halasuru Gate Police have registered an FIR against Yerriswamy, Siddaraju, and Basavaraju. Further investigation is underway.
