Actor Jacqueline Fernandez is tapping the pre-owned fashion model to turn her personal wardrobe into a fundraising channel, launching a charity closet sale through her social initiative YOLO Foundation in partnership with Dolce Vee.
The initiative offers consumers access to pieces from Fernandez’s wardrobe, spanning red carpet couture and performance looks to high street fashion, athleisure and limited-edition accessories. The collection ranges from budget to luxury and everyday outfits to statement pieces, with items curated at accessible prices.
The sale is being hosted on Dolce Vee, with proceeds supporting animal welfare. Raksha Foundation is the charity beneficiary of the inaugural sale.
The initiative also brings together resale and sustainability, with buyers able to see estimates of the environmental impact of purchasing the pre-owned pieces instead of newly manufactured clothing.
According to estimates calculated using the Dolce Vee Clothing Environmental Footprint Calculator, built in partnership with the Centre for Environmental Research & Education, the collection saves more than 850 kg of carbon and 640,000 litres of water when purchased pre-owned rather than newly manufactured.
Fernandez said the idea was to create a way for consumers to discover pieces from her wardrobe while contributing to animal welfare.
“Over the years, I’ve realised that giving back doesn’t always have to look the same — it can take many forms, and sometimes it can begin with something as personal as the clothes in your own wardrobe,” she said.
She added that giving clothes a second life was an important part of the initiative, encouraging consumers to be more conscious about what they consume, what they keep and how they pass things on.
For Dolce Vee, the initiative brings a celebrity wardrobe into its pre-owned fashion offering. Founder Komal Hiranandani said fans had been asking for Fernandez’s closet sale for years.
