Their partnership is the third highest for the last-wicket in Ranji history, 43 short of the all-time record for the highest last-wicket stand in Ranji history – 233 runs – currently held by Ajay Sharma (259) and Maninder Singh (78) for Delhi against Mumbai during the 1991-92 season.
Sutar represented Mumbai earlier this year during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the domestic 50-overs competition, following impressive returns in the local leagues. In June, he steered MSC Maratha Royals to a successful title defence in the Mumbai T20 League, finishing the tournament with back-to-back half-centuries. He finished the season with 212 runs in six innings at a strike rate touching 120.
Prior to the start of the 2026-27 season, Sutar obtained an NoC from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and made his Ranji Trophy debut for Mizoram in last week’s season opener, hitting 35 and 99 in their narrow three-wicket loss to Manipur. Mizoram’s fightback despite conceding a 68-run lead was due to Sutar’s second-innings effort.
