Akhilesh Yadav addressed questions regarding a Lucknow hoarding that featured a demand for 200 seats for the Congress.
Yadav affirmed confidence in strengthening the alliance between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress ahead of the assembly elections.
Further, Yadav expressed confidence that his party and its allies would further strengthen their coalition ahead of the assembly elections, saying attempts to trigger a controversy over the Congress’ alleged demand for 200 seats would only consolidate the PDA.
A hoarding recently put up in Lucknow featured Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, with the message: “200 seats are our right; UP trusts Rahul Gandhi.” Questioning the people behind the campaign, Yadav asked who was putting up the posters and funding them.
Yadav Vows To Strengthen Congress Alliance
“These objectionable posters have not appeared for the first time. Who is putting them up? Who is spending money on them? Who is running this racket?” he asked. “The more they put up such posters, spread misinformation and insult others, the stronger the PDA will become,” Yadav said.
PDA, which stands for Pichhda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak (Backward Classes, Dalits and Minorities), is a key electoral focus for the Samajwadi Party.
Responding to questions about the party’s alliance with the Congress, Yadav said the SP leadership had experience in bringing political parties together and managing coalitions.
“Samajwadi Party and all our leaders know how to bring people together. We all have experience in managing alliances. We will strengthen our alliance ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections,” he said.
Yadav added that the alliance’s objective was to remove the BJP from power permanently in Uttar Pradesh.
