According to reports, the photos were taken from an Upper West Side youth hostel where he might have been staying before the shooting.
“Below are photos of a person of interest wanted for questioning regarding the Midtown Manhattan homicide on Dec. 4. This does not appear to be a random act of violence; all indications are that it was a premediated, targeted attack. The full investigative efforts of the NYPD are continuing, and we are asking for the public’s help—if you have any information about this case, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). There is a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction,” the NYPD said.
CEO killed in NYC: Here’s the full timeline
Brian Thompson was killed early morning Wednesday as he reached the New York Hilton Midtown hotel to prepare for an investors’ day gathering.
The killer arrived outside the hotel and precisely outside the gate through which Brian Thompson was supposed to enter the hotel about 10 minutes before Thompson.
Many passersby saw the killer and ignored while he was waiting for Thompson.
As Thompson walked toward the hotel entrance, the killer approached him from behind and fired at least three shots with a pistol that had a silencer.
As caught in the surveillance footage, the gun got jammed but the killer was skilled enough to cleat that and continued firing.
Brian Thompson turned back to face the killer and then collapsed.
The killer walked toward him slowly and fired a last shot. Then he began to run through a nearby passageway to West 55th Street, where he jumped on an electric Citi Bike and rode off into Central Park, police said.
