Eyewear major Lenskart is investing Rs 1500 crore in setting up what is touted as the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing factory in Telangana.
The facility will produce eyewear, lenses, sunglasses, as well as accessories and other products catering to India, along with exports to other markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, Lenskart co-founder Amit Chaudhary said here on Sunday.
Speaking after signing an MoU with the Telangana govt on Sunday at an event to mark the one-year celebration of the Revanth Reddy-led govt, Chaudhary said the company explored multiple states before finally choosing Telangana, as they were impressed by the state’s speed and ease of doing business.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Telangana industries and IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
The facility will be established at Fab City, where land has already been identified and will be handed over to the company this week, TGIIC VC & MD Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said.
He mentioned that the company may also later set up an R&D facility in the state.
The plant will create around 2100 jobs and is part of four MoUs worth nearly Rs 7600 crore signed on Sunday, with the potential to generate around 5200 new jobs.
