The controversy began when BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri, contesting from Kalkaji, said he would make the roads as smooth as Gandhi’s cheeks if elected
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday slammed former BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri over his controversial remark about her cheeks, calling it “ridiculous” and suggesting him to focus on important issues ahead of the Delhi assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Priyanka said, “Elections are taking place in Delhi. Important issues should be discussed,” referring to the ongoing political campaigns.
The Congress MP further added that such “irrelevant talks” should not divert attention from real concerns that matter to the voters.
Additionally, Priyanka, in a sharp jibe at the BJP candidate, remarked that Bidhuri did not mention anything about his own cheeks. “It is a ridiculous remark. He never spoke about his cheeks. All this is unnecessary,” she stated.
The controversy began when Ramesh Bidhuri, who is contesting from Delhi’s Kalkaji assembly seat for the BJP, made an inappropriate comment stating that he would make the roads of Kalkaji as smooth as Gandhi’s cheeks if elected.
“We will build all roads in Kalkaji like the cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi. Lalu had said he would build roads in Bihar like the cheeks of Hema Malini but he could not. But I assure you that we will make all roads in Kalkaji like the cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi,” Bidhuri had said.
Bidhuri later expressed regret over his remark, which triggered criticism from various quarters, including Congress.
