Telangana Forest Minister Konda Surekha said that some ministers in the state take money to clear files, but emphasised that she doesn’t take a single penny. However, she later clarified after her remark went viral, drawing criticism.

Surekha also mentioned an incident when a company approached her to get a file cleared. She stated that she had asked them to do community work with the money.

“Usually ministers take the money and clear file. I don’t take a single rupee,” she said.

“Some ministers take money for file clearance. A company also came to me for file clearance. I told them that I don’t want a single rupee from you. Instead, I suggested they do community service with that money,” said Surekha.

My Remarks Were Distorted: Surekha’s Clarification

After the row, Surekha later posted on X that some people had completely distorted her comments and clarified that ministers from the previous KCR government used to take bribes to get things done.

“Some people have completely distorted my comments, such as my statement that ministers in the previous BRS government would take money to do any work. I made those comments referring to the performance of ministers in the previous BRS government. It is not reasonable to distort my comments. I will provide more details on this entire issue through a video today,” she wrote on X.

KTR Reacts To Konda Surekha’s Remark

Reacting to Konda Surekha’ remark, BRS working president KT Rama Rao hit out at the forest minister and said, “Many congratulations to Minister Konda Surekha garu for finally speaking some truths! Congress in Telangana runs a “commission sarkaar”, and it’s unfortunate this has become an open secret in Telangana.”

“I request Konda Surekha garu to name and shame all the Congress ministers involved. Can Revanth Reddy or Rahul Gandhi order an inquiry into these allegations by their own cabinet minister?,” he added.
