Indian-origin man slammed for opposing H-1B visas: 'We will welcome you to Kozhikode with open arms'
Indian-origin man was trolled on X for opposing H-1B visa program.

An Indian-origin man in the US, Rohit Joy, was slammed on X as he reacted to some recent H-1B updates. In his opinion, all H-1B visas should expire and all H-1B visa holders should be sent back to their home countries. As his X bio says he’s an Indian by blood, and an Oregonian by birth and Texan by choice, the Republican supporter drew backlash mostly from Indians who questioned him on his opinion — some even suggested him to change his name as it’s evidently Indian. All of it started with some of the Congressmen pushing for the domestic visa renewal program for the H-1B. Under the existing rule, H-1B visa holders have to get their visa renewed from the US embassy of their own country and it takes months. Several Congressmen, including those of Indian origin like Ro Khanna, recently wrote to Secretary of State Marco Rubio to allow the renewal in the US only saving time for the companies that hire them as well. Reacting to this push, the Indian-origin man denounced H-1B and said the program has nothing to do with keeping America competitive. “Nope. All H-1B visas should expire, the program should be ended, and visa holders should be sent back to their home countries. It has nothing to do with keeping America competitive. Our major national competitors don’t bring in large number of foreign workers,” Rohit wrote. “Thanks Rohit, we will welcome you to Kozhikode with open arms,” one wrote.“I won’t be going anywhere. I’m a US citizen,” the Indian-origin man wrote. Social media users reminded him that now citizenship can also be taken away by the strong immigration policies of the Trump administration. “Yes, we will strip you of your citizenship and send you to Kozhikode because you are “Rohit”,” one user trolled. “Tell that to the ICE agent who mistakenly (not really) arrests you and put you on a deportation flight without due process,” another wrote. People trolled him, calling him a birthright citizen, and asked whether his parents were not in the US on H-1B visas.
