Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi, Maharashtra Chief Minister said that the Congress has already accepted his defeat in upcoming Bihar polls.

Hours after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asserted on Saturday that the Maharashtra Assembly elections were a “blueprint for rigging democracy”, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis retorted that the former continues to delude himself.

In an article published in the Indian Express, Rahul Gandhi, also the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, alleged that the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections were not conducted fairly. He further claimed that this pattern of electoral “match-fixing” would be replicated in upcoming elections, including those in Bihar and “anywhere the BJP is losing”.

In a post on X, Gandhi outlined what he described as systematic manipulation of the electoral process: “My article shows how this happened, step by step: Step 1: Rig the panel for appointing the Election Commission. Step 2: Add fake voters to the roll. Step 3: Inflate voter turnout. Step 4: Target the bogus voting exactly where the BJP needs to win. Step 5: Hide the evidence.”

Responding sharply, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “Rahul Gandhi accepted his defeat in Bihar! As long as Rahul Gandhi gives himself false assurances, his party can never win. By saying such baseless things, Rahul Gandhi has insulted the voters of Maharashtra, for this I condemn him.”

“He will have to wake up and understand the reality. Otherwise, he will keep speaking nonsense, keep lying, and insulting voters… Neither does Rahul Gandhi understand what he’s saying, nor do people understand what he’s saying,” he added.

BJP president JP Nadda also launched a scathing attack on Gandhi, stating that the Congress leader’s “article is a blueprint for manufacturing fake narratives, owing to his sadness and desperation from losing election after election.”

He further presented a step-by-step process of Gandhi’s alleged “bizarre conspiracy”:

“Read how Rahul Gandhi lied about Maharashtra: Here’s how he does it, step by step: Step 1: Congress Party gets defeated election after election due to his antics. Step 2: Instead of introspecting, he cooks up bizarre conspiracies and cries rigging. Step 3: Ignores all facts and data. Step 4: Defames institutions with zero proof. Step 5: Hopes for headlines over facts.”

“Despite being exposed time and again, he shamelessly keeps peddling lies. And, he is doing this because a defeat in Bihar is certain. Democracy doesn’t need drama. It needs truth,” added Nadda.
