A large brush fire erupted Tuesday afternoon in the Wetlands Park area of Clark County, burning over 100 acres of land and prompting a significant multi-agency response, as reported by KTNV. The Clark County Fire Department (CCFD) and the US bureau of land management are leading efforts to contain the blaze. Additional local, state, and federal agencies are also assisting, with crews expected to continue working through Tuesday night.The fire is burning in a desert area northeast of Old Silver Bowl Park, near Weisner Way. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area, including the WB Bennett RC Airfield, while firefighting operations continue.Nearby structures and residents are being monitored closely by local departments, while larger containment efforts focus on the brush fire itself.As a precaution, the Wetlands Park Nature Center has been closed. The center normally operates from Tuesday to Sunday, between 9 am and 3 pm.Earlier this month, another smaller fire at the park burned between 3 to 5 acres. Authorities have not indicated any connection between the two incidents at this time.
