In a shocking and bizarre incident, a minister from Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh government staged a sit-in protest against a police official outside the police station in Kanpur on Thursday.
UP Minister of State for Women Welfare ,Child Development and Nutrition, Pratibha Shukla protested along with her supporters and demanded the removal of the Akbarpur police station in-charge.

What’s The Row?
As per the report by Hindustan, a massive row erupted on Wednesday over the road construction work behind the Badalpur Police Line when local councilor Shamshad had protested against the construction and the work was stopped.
On receiving the information, State Minister Pratibha Shukla herself reached the spot and immediately restarted the construction work. After a chaos and heated arguments, a case was registered against councilor Shamshad for obstructing the work and demanding extortion on the basis of the complaint of the contractor.
Meanwhile, the controversy further escalated after a dalit woman registered a case against five supporters of Shukla under the SC-ST Act in Akbarpur police station.
On getting the information, the minister reached the police station and staged a sit-in protest with her supporters. She claimed that the police inspector has lodged a false case against her supporters
Kanpur Police ASP Rajesh Pandey, CO Line Priya Singh, CO Bhognipur Sanjay Singh and other officials reached the spot and tried to convince the state minister to end the strike, the report added.
Akhilesh Yadav Takes Jibe
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government saying the the minister of the government is herself staging a protest against her own police’s actions.

“The ruling state minister herself is staging a protest against her own police’s actions, does the Chief Minister need any more evidence? If BJP goes, the police system will improve,” he said in post on X.
