A shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, on Monday morning left several people injured, with one suspect now in custody. Authorities have confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public, though parts of the property may remain closed as the investigation continues.The incident began around 7:25 am (local time), when Reno Police received reports of an active shooter in the valet area of the casino-resort, according to KTVN. Within minutes, officers arrived at the scene and confronted the suspect. Reno Police said there was an exchange of gunfire before the suspect, an adult male, was taken into custody and later transported to a local hospital. His condition remains undisclosed.Police have not yet confirmed the exact number of victims. As per news agency AP, several individuals were found with gunshot wounds, while others reportedly made their way to hospitals on their own. Emergency responders, including REMSA paramedics, fire department teams, and Grand Sierra Resort staff, assisted in treating and transporting the injured.The shooting involved police officers, and Reno Police spokesperson Chris Johnson confirmed it as an “officer-involved shooting.” The Washoe County Sheriff’s Department also stated that an officer was involved during the confrontation at the scene.City council member Devon Reese said in a social media post, “My heart breaks for the victims, their families, and our entire community. Reno is strong but we are not immune to the epidemic of gun violence gripping this nation.” He also mentioned that “tragically, lives have been lost,” though no fatalities have been officially confirmed by authorities so far.The Sparks Police Department is now leading the investigation, with support from multiple agencies including the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada State Police, and the Reno Fire Department.
