A video from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s monsoon session has gone viral, showing a heated confrontation between two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators during a discussion on the government’s ‘Vision Document 2047’ on Wednesday.
In the footage, BJP MLA from Mathura Rajesh Chaudhary can be seen engaging in a verbal spat with Saurabh Srivastava, the party’s legislator from Varanasi. The argument reportedly broke out over who would speak first on behalf of the ruling party. Chaudhary alleged that Srivastava was not forwarding his name to the Speaker.
As tensions escalated, Chaudhary, who was standing, appeared to move towards Srivastava, seated two rows ahead, before other lawmakers intervened to prevent a possible scuffle. Several MLAs were seen trying to diffuse the situation and calm both leaders.

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav posted the video on his official X account, criticising the BJP. “Misbehaviour and foul language are the steps to progress in the BJP. Condemnable!” he wrote, alleging the ruling party promotes leaders who indulge in such conduct.
Chaudhary hit back at Yadav, referencing a recent controversy involving Maulana Sajid Rashidi, president of the All India Imam Association, who had made misogynistic remarks about SP MP Dimple Yadav during a television debate last month. “Akhilesh Yadav ji, what is condemnable is when a fanatic insulted your wife, the honour of your house, Dimple Yadav ji, and you were left speechless,” Chaudhary said.
He added, “If you have some shame left, then open your mouth and answer the fanatic who insulted the honour of your house and a woman. We are with Dimple ji in the honour of women.”
