Aamir Khan reflects on calling Shah Rukh Khan ‘chichora’: 'Maybe he was upset with me'
Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, once rivals who called each other ‘chichora,’ have grown into close friends. Despite past teasing and differences over film promotions, they now share late-night catch-ups and mutual respect, highlighting how time transformed their relationship from rivalry to genuine camaraderie.

Once rivals, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have transformed their relationship over time. Recently, in an interview, Aamir reflected on their past clashes, including teasing each other as ‘chichora.’ Today, their bond is strong, showcasing how years of growth have turned former tensions into genuine friendship.Early Days and MisunderstandingsReflecting on his earlier relationship with Shah Rukh during an interview with Lallantop, Aamir revealed, “I hadn’t known Shah Rukh so much that time, we would keep meeting often, we even hung out together back then at either of our places.” He clarified a funny misunderstanding from a Panchgani farmhouse vlog where he mentioned Shah Rukh licking his feet—explaining that it was actually the dog named after Shah Rukh. Aamir also shared how Shah Rukh frequently jokes about him, especially since Aamir skips award functions every year, yet they continue to tease him. He went on to point out, “SRK often keeps making jokes on me, every year there are award functions and I don’t go to them, but they keep making fun of me.”The ‘3 Idiots’ Promotion and SRK’s CommentWhen ‘3 Idiots’ hit the screens, Aamir left no stone unturned in promoting it, adopting multiple looks and touring extensively across the country. At that time, Shah Rukh’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ was also awaiting release. Commenting on Aamir’s promotional tactics, SRK remarked, “I regret to use this word, but it’s a kind of ‘chichorapan’. I wouldn’t go to this extent to promote my film. There is a way to market every film, and we too will have a unique strategy to promote our film.”Aamir’s Response to Shah Rukh’s RemarksUpon hearing Shah Rukh’s remarks, Aamir responded thoughtfully, acknowledging SRK’s sensibility. He said, “SRK is a sensible man, if I am going to different parts of the country and he finds that chichora what can I say, that’s his opinion and I don’t agree with it.” Aamir viewed his promotional efforts as valuable personal growth, adding, “For me, it was an important experience as a human being, and it will bring growth to me.” He also playfully turned the tables, noting, “As far as chichorapan is concerned, Shah Rukh might know better about it because he does a lot of it in his life; he is an expert at all this.”Friendship Today: Late-Night Catch-UpsReflecting on their friendship today, Aamir revealed that they frequently get together. “We often make plans to catch up, and we never stop at one drink. When we sit together, it is usually till morning, 7 am, not just with Salman but with Shah Rukh too. This has happened eight to 10 times till now,” he said, highlighting the strong bond they share.
