The Election Commission on Thursday allotted “whistle symbol” to actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
The poll body issued an order allocating the whistle symbol as the general symbol for the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
Notably, Whistle was one of the ‘priority’ symbols for TVK as it was Vijay’s preference from a choice of 10 symbols proposed, party leader CTR Nirmal Kumar said.
“The overall expectations and the desire of the people of Tamil Nadu is that our leader should become Chief Minister. As a first step, this symbol has been given,” Kumar said.
Incidentally, one of actor Vijay’s top hit songs is “whistle podu,” (play the whistle) from his 2024 film GOAT, which incidentally had some references to his then planned political foray.
The development came just two days after TVK convened its first election campaign committee meeting in Chennai on Tuesday to outline a manifesto anchored in social justice and transparency.
On January 16, Vijay constituted a 12-member committee to coordinate election campaign activities of the party at the district and constituency levels for the Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.
The party’s poll manifesto for the upcoming Assembly polls would be built on the pillar of social justice, and the roadmap would focus on transforming Tamil Nadu through inclusive growth and a vision for all sectors.
