Air India cabin log sparks viral buzz over “cockroach execution” mid air

In an aircraft, a logbook is far from ordinary stationery. It records every minor glitch, maintenance check, and passenger complaint, serving as a crucial paper trail to keep flights safe. But for one Air India flight from Delhi to Dubai, the logbook captured something far from routine: a live cockroach—and its unusual, dramatic “execution” mid-air.On October 24, 2025, Air India flight AI 315 took off from Delhi, carrying passengers and, unexpectedly, a stowaway. Shortly after takeoff, a passenger noticed a live cockroach in the cabin. The cabin crew quickly addressed the situation and documented the incident in the aircraft’s official cabin defect logbook. The log entry, which has since gone viral, reads:“Cockroach found alive by guest – cockroach hanged until death.”This entry, written alongside routine complaints such as a malfunctioning entertainment system and a clogged washbasin, caught the attention of social media users for its blunt and unusual phrasing. Aviation journalist Jagriti Chandra shared an image of the log on X, highlighting the engineer’s wry tone, describing the matter as “dealt with… conclusively. Khalaas (finished), Dubai style.”

Public reactions and social media buzz

The photograph of the logbook quickly went viral on social media, attracting widespread attention. The unusually blunt entry documenting the fate of the cockroach sparked amusement online, with many noting it as one of the most memorable airline maintenance records in recent memory. At the same time, the incident prompted discussions about cabin hygiene and the measures taken to handle pests on one of India’s busiest international routes, highlighting the small but important details that airlines must manage during flights.

Airline response

As of now, Air India has not released an official comment on the incident or confirmed whether any follow-up action was taken once the aircraft landed in Dubai. The logbook entry remains a testament to the everyday diligence of aircraft maintenance engineers, who routinely record everything from technical malfunctions to unexpected cabin events.
