Alia Bhatt hails ‘Dhurandhar’ as India’s top-grossing film, calling it “the voice of today’s India.” She reshared Eternal Sunshine Productions’ note praising its Rs 800cr domestic, Rs 1000cr global haul. Part 2 drops March 19, 2026. Gulf ban costs Rs 90cr; IMPPA seeks PM Modi’s aid.

Alia Bhatt has finally opened up on ‘Dhurandhar as the film has become the highest grossing Indian film. She reshared a note on social media written by her production house, to praise the film. She called it the voice of today’s India. The second part releases March 19, 2026, with Yash’s ‘Toxic’ and Adivi Sesh-Mrunal’s ‘Dacoit’.

Taking to Instagram stories, Alia posted this glowing note on Eternal Sunshine Productions’ social media, “It’s the voice of today’s India. It’s the choice of today’s India. It’s based on a chapter in history. And now it’s the number one chapter in India’s cinema history. Cheers to Dhurandhar. And three cheers to the ENTIRE team. You not only created waves. You brought the high tide back to the theatres. If this is what part one did in winter, imagine what part two will bring in spring!!!”.

Blockbuster box office run

‘Dhurandhar’ has collected over Rs 800 crore at the domestic box office and continues to run with limited screenings in theaters nationwide. Its global earnings have surpassed Rs 1000 crore. With its strong critical and commercial performance, anticipation now builds for the second installment.

Gulf countries ban issue

The film faces a ban across Gulf countries. ‘Dhurandhar’ reportedly suffered a Rs 90 crore loss as a result, recently disclosed. The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has sent a formal letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to step-in and remove the ban, though no response has come yet. Featuring Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, and more, the movie hit theaters on December 5, 2025.
