A viral video shows NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani being chased from Foley Square by protesters accusing him of antisemitism and demanding he denounce Hezbollah and Sharia law.In the video, Mamdani is seen being escorted by his security through the square toward a waiting vehicle, while a man trails behind shouting, “denounce Hezbollah! denounce Sharia law!”The footage, shared on X, captures protesters surrounding Mamdani as they shout and drum during the tense exchange.Mamdani had been speaking at Foley Square in a show of support for New York Attorney General Letitia James, who was indicted earlier this week on mortgage fraud charges linked to a property she owns in Virginia.The protester appeared to confront Mamdani over his recent remarks marking the second anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attack, in which he accused the Israeli government of waging a “genocidal war” in Gaza and said the US “has been complicit through it all.”“Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more. I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities,” Mamdani said. Mamdani condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, citing a death toll exceeding 67,000 and the destruction of homes, hospitals, and schools.“Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief itself has run out of language. I mourn these lives and pray for the families that have been shattered,” the statement by Mamdani read.Mamdani’s remarks prompted the Israeli foreign ministry to repost his statement on X, accusing him of “acting as a mouthpiece for Hamas propaganda.”“By repeating Hamas’s lies, he excuses terror and normalizes antisemitism.
