'Any Democrat who supports...': DNC activist David Hogg slams party leaders over Iran war stance; urges unity against Trump

Gun control activist and Democratic organiser David Hogg has called on his party to reject any support for the escalating Iran-Israel war, saying that younger generations will not back another expensive foreign conflict. In a series of blunt posts on social media platform X, Hogg criticised Democrats who support deepening US involvement and demanded primary challenges against them. “Any Democrat who supports this war with Iran needs to be primaried,” he wrote. “Our generation grew up going through two multi trillion dollar wars we should have never been involved in. We are not f***ing going back to that. If you think this is a good idea read a history book.”Hogg, a survivor of the 2018 Parkland school shooting, also warned that the conflict could splinter the Democratic base ahead of the 2026 midterms and 2028 presidential race. “Democrats must be united against Trump and his war. We can’t f**k this up,” he said.He questioned the silence of budget-conscious lawmakers who usually oppose federal spending. “Where are all the ‘we can’t afford it’ politicians now that we’re on the brink of what could be another multi trillion dollar war?” he said. His comments came as US President Donald Trump cut short his trip to the G7 summit in Canada to return to Washington for urgent security talks. Trump had earlier in the day hinted that a nuclear deal with Iran was still “achievable” but hours later urged Tehran’s residents to evacuate, saying “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.”Israel claims its four-day bombardment has crippled Iran’s air defences and now wants US help to destroy deeply buried nuclear facilities. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly seeking access to America’s bunker-busting GBU-57 bomb, which only the B-2 stealth bomber can deliver.Trump has so far declined to confirm whether the US will provide such weapons but continues to press Iran for fresh talks. Meanwhile, the White House has sent additional warships and aircraft to the region and deployed Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth for a Fox News interview to explain the president’s position.Within Trump’s own base, the issue has sparked debate. While figures like Sen. Lindsey Graham back strong US support for Israel, others like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and pundit Charlie Kirk fear it could alienate MAGA voters who backed Trump’s anti-war promises.
