Bangladesh: Vandalism at Tagore’s home a ‘personal dispute’

The interim govt in Dhaka has said the vandalism at Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral home in Bangladesh’s Sirajganj was “not driven by communal or political motives” but stemmed from a “personal dispute”. The Bangladesh cultural affairs ministry claimed that on June 8, a “conflict arose from a misunderstanding that escalated into a verbal and physical confrontation between an on-duty employee of ‘Rabindra Kachharibari’ and a visitor, Shahnewaz”.
