Bank accounts of Indians getting frozen in US before deportation? Viral post sparks speculation amid Trump's crackdown
An X post claimed some Indians in US got their bank accounts frozen before they were deported.

A social media post sparked fear and speculation on X as the user claimed that an Indian immigrant recently told him that a lot of Indians are getting their bank accounts frozen before getting deported. The post suggested that freezing bank accounts is a sure sign of deportation. “I didn’t even know this was happening but I support it 100%,” the user posted, drawing cheers from Americans who has been championing for mass deportation in the wake of the Los Angeles riots. The Donald Trump administration has cracked the whip on people overstaying their visas in the US and they did not even spare famous TikToker Khaby Lame. The LA riots, too, have their source in the immigration issue as the protests started against ICE raids on illegal Mexicans staying in LA. There have been some reports of illegal aliens getting their accounts frozen before their deportation, but there is no confirmation on what has been claimed in the viral post — as a systematic procedure of deportation.Users in the comment section raised questions as to whether these people, whose bank accounts are getting frozen came into the US legally or not. “Many were given endless H-1B extensions as they were on a long waiting list for a Green Card. Which is insane cuz it makes the Green Card just a formality. And its not. Trump has restored order and if your visa runs out, you have to leave NOW. Many thought they could slide, nope,” one wrote. “My husband works for a well known company and apparently they have an Iranian employee who just got notice that he’s being sent back, so I know this is happening on some scale. He told me another nationality, too, but I can’t remember where that person came from,” another person shared what she knows about those. The post came at a time when a video of an Indian student being handcuffed and deported from Newark Airport created much shock and anger among Indians. The US embassy in India issued a statement amid the row over the video and said the US welcomes legitimate travelers while illegal entry, abuse of visas or the violation of US law remain punishable.
