Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RAK International Airport) announced a major private-aviation expansion revealed at the Dubai Airshow (Nov 19, 2025): a luxury VVIP terminal, a large multi-purpose hangar and apron space to serve private and ultra-long-range jets, developed in partnership with Falcon Executive Aviation / Alex Group Investment.

RAK’s new private VIP terminal

The new private aviation complex is a key component of this strategic growth plan, designed specifically to cater to high-value visitors, investors, and business partners. RAK International Airport partnered with Alex Group Investment, specifically its subsidiary Falcon Executive Aviation, which will develop and operate the new Fixed Base Operation (FBO) facility. The complex will include three main structures:

  • A luxury 1,500 square meter VVIP Terminal building.
  • An expansive 8,000 square meter multi-purpose aircraft hangar.
  • A generous 9,000 square meter dedicated apron and aircraft parking area.

Royal lounges and future mobility

This new facility promises a seamless and ultra-exclusive transit experience branded as the Falcon Signature Experience, ensuring the highest levels of privacy and operational efficiency. The luxury terminal is meticulously designed to offer lavish amenities, including a dedicated Royal lounge for dignitaries and heads of state. Furthermore, travelers will have access to four independent VVIP lounges and premium hospitality areas offering world-class, personalized concierge services.Looking ahead, the complex will integrate future aviation technology. The plans specifically include a dedicated helipad and reserved space for future eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft, positioning the airport for the next generation of air travel. Construction is slated to take 15 months, with the grand opening scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

Gold standard for green aviation

A critical feature of this project is its commitment to sustainability, which sets a new precedent for private aviation in the region. The entire complex is being designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, a globally recognized standard for green building practices. The facility’s eco-friendly features include:

  • Solar Power Integration: Renewable energy from solar panels is planned to offset an impressive 35 percent of the complex’s total energy consumption.
  • Electric Fleet: The FBO will exclusively use electric ground support equipment.
  • SAF Capability: The facility will provide capability to handle Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), supporting a goal of achieving net-zero operational emissions.

RAK’s global tourism hub status

The VVIP terminal is part of a much larger infrastructure boost at RAK International Airport. The overall expansion program includes a new 30,000 square meter main passenger terminal, designed to operate alongside the existing facilities. This major upgrade is designed to enhance efficiency with upgraded baggage handling, security screening, and passport control systems. This massive expansion is a direct response to the Emirate’s increasing popularity, particularly driven by large-scale hospitality developments. The airport aims to handle over 3 million passengers annually by 2028, connecting the world directly to RAK’s growing landscape of resorts and entertainment venues, including the anticipated opening of the Wynn Marjan Island Resort in early 2027.
