New Delhi: boAt has sharply expanded its India-based production, with domestic manufacturing rising to 75.83 per cent of total output in Q1 FY26, up from 39.65 per cent in FY23, the company said in a press release on Friday

As of June 30, 2025, the company had produced over 75 million units locally, supported by deeper localisation of PCBs, batteries, plastics and other key components.

The company manufactured 6.36 million units in India in the June 2025 quarter, compared with 4.42 million units a year earlier. Its joint venture with Dixon Technologies—Califonix Tech and Manufacturing—remains central to this shift. The JV accounted for 37.46 per cent of total output in Q1 FY26, producing 3.19 million units. In FY25, Califonix manufactured 13.44 million units at 44.80 per cent capacity utilisation, up from 29.03 per cent in FY24.

boAt expects 15-20 per cent duty savings from shifting component production—such as PCBs, batteries, plastics and straps—to domestic suppliers. As of June 2025, most PCB volumes had been localised, with additional components undergoing trials.

The company continues to control product design, engineering standards and manufacturing processes while working with suppliers to customise components, enabling tighter quality control, standardisation and faster product development cycles.

Industry-wide manufacturing tailwinds, including “Make in India,” the Phased Manufacturing Programme and the PLI scheme, have accelerated this shift. As of March 2025, PLI investments in electronics crossed ₹1.76 lakh crore, with cumulative production exceeding Rs 16.50 lakh crore.

Across its JV and supplier ecosystem, boAt supports over 6,000 contract workers. The company plans further vertical integration through automation upgrades, enhanced testing and centres of excellence focused on design-for-manufacturing and audio quality, aimed at supporting future product cycles and volume expansion.
