Lunden Roberts, 33, has revealed that Hunter Biden, US President Joe Biden‘s son, continues to avoid meeting their six-year-old daughter Navy.
Roberts and Hunter Biden had a relationship between 2016 and 2018. Initially, Hunter denied paternity until a court-mandated DNA test confirmed he was Navy’s father.
Navy’s mother told The Times of London: “He has missed out on a lot in his daughter’s life, and he’s hurt her in ways that I don’t think he’ll ever realize. A child’s first heartbreak shouldn’t be from their father.”
Currently residing in Batesville, Arkansas, approximately an hour from Little Rock, Roberts works at her father’s firearms manufacturing firm. She indicated that Hunter’s previous monthly Zoom communications with Navy have ceased.
According to Roberts, the communications ended following the release of her recent publication about their relationship and Navy’s birth.
She disclosed that Navy frequently enquires about her father and wishes to meet him and his family. President Biden previously stated, “Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”
Roberts indicated their inability to participate in Navy’s life remains unexplained. She had previously met President Biden during his vice presidency when he visited whilst Hunter struggled with addiction.
Roberts encountered Hunter in 2016 whilst studying criminology in Washington. At a Rosemont Seneca function, she found him alone in his office, wearing underwear and using crack cocaine, during a period of severe addiction.
Their relationship developed, and she became his executive assistant. During this time, Hunter was divorcing Kathleen Buhle, mother of his three children, and had an intermittent relationship with his late brother’s widow, Hallie Biden.
Roberts observed how significant life events affected Hunter, including Beau’s death and the early loss of his mother and sister.
She described his self-perception as the family’s outsider, believing his actions were consistently wrong. He would vanish temporarily, returning vulnerable and seeking reassurance.
Following Navy’s birth, Roberts awaited Hunter’s involvement. She stated, “Is he going to call? It wasn’t that I thought we’d get married and sail off into the sunset. I wanted him to be a father to our child, to be in her life in some way.”
Hunter initially denied paternity and claimed in his 2021 memoir, “Beautiful Things,” to have no recollection of Roberts. She termed this “the greatest public gaslighting of all time.”
Roberts initiated legal proceedings after Hunter’s paternity denial. A court-ordered test confirmed his paternity.
According to Roberts, Hunter hasn’t communicated with Navy for eight months. She supports President Biden’s recent pardon of his son.
The pardon addresses Hunter’s criminal cases involving false statements about sobriety during a 2018 firearm purchase and tax payment failures of $1.4 million. It covers potential offences from January 1, 2014, through December 1 of this year.
