'China wants to meet': US President Donald Trump makes big claim as trade war intensifies with Beijing

US President Donald Trump on Thursday claimed that China was willing to have a meeting amid the growing tensions between the two nations as tariff war escalated. However, there has been no confirmation from the Asian nation regarding any official meeting.
While informing about his “productive” talks with Mexico, Japan, Trump said, “Had a very productive call with the President of Mexico yesterday. Likewise, I met with the highest level Japanese Trade Representatives. It was a very productive meeting. Every Nation, including China, wants to meet! Today, Italy!”

However, a Bloomberg report recently revealed that China was willingness to resume trade negotiations with the States provided that its certain demand were fulfilled.
The demands included increased diplomatic respect, a stable US trade policy, responsiveness to its concerns regarding sanctions and Taiwan, and the selection of a chief negotiator who has Trump’s full support, the report said citing a Chinese government source.
“If the US really wants to resolve the issue… it should stop threatening and talk to China on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit,” foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said.
The Trump administration increased tariffs on the Asian country to 245% after Beijing chose to halt new Boeing aircraft orders for its airlines. Meanwhile, China responded saying that it wasn’t “afraid to fight”, however, adding that if the US wanted to resolve the matter, it should talk “on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit.”
