Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan, met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) registered a thumping victory, as the coalition won 202 of the 243 seats in the state.

“I went to congratulate him. The Chief Minister supported our candidates,” he said.

On NDA’s win, Paswan said, “NDA registered a historic victory under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. So, a delegation of LJP(RV) met him and congratulated him. I am delighted that the CM appreciated the role of every alliance partner in the NDA. He supported the LJP(RV) candidate when he went to vote. In Alauli, where I vote, I supported JD(U) candidate. This shows that those were misleading regarding JD(U) and LJP(RV) were just setting false narrative.”

However, when asked who the alliance would project as Chief Minister, the LJP (RV) leader chose to evade the question.

Chirag Paswan’s Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas) won 19 seats, up from 1 in the 2020 election.

“After the Bihar Assembly Election results today, met with the Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar Ji and extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to him for the NDA’s resounding majority,” Chirag posted on X.

Within the ruling coalition, the BJP led the charge with 89 seats, followed closely by the JD(U) at 85. Strong performances by allies, LJP(RV) with 19 seats, HAM with 5, RLM with 4, along with several smaller partners, cemented the NDA’s dominance across the state.

In stark contrast, the Mahagathbandhan buckled under the surge. The RJD won only 25 seats, the Congress fell to 6, and the Left parties together managed just 3. The BSP and IIP secured one seat each, but the Opposition as a whole remained nowhere close to posing a serious challenge.

Prashant Kishor’s much-publicised Jan Suraaj campaign, once billed as a possible disruptor, finished without a single victory, marking a humbling setback for the strategist-turned-politician.
