UFC CEO Dana White who emerged as an endorser for his longtime friend Donald Trump before the election has now made a surprising U-turn as he said he wants nothing to do with politics. “I’m never f**king doing this again. I want nothing to do with this s**t. It’s gross. It’s disgusting. I want nothing to do with politics,” Dana White said to New Yorker.
Nothing went wrong between Dana and Trump but White told New Yorker that he helped the campaign because Trump is a friend. The rest of the GOP is on their own, he said hinting that politics is not something that interests him though he has been frequently seen in the political arena of late — but only because of Trump.
“Donald Trump is tougher and more badass than anybody. You can only pray that you’re a quarter of the man that Donald Trump was when a guy tried to take seven shots at his head with a high-powered rifle with a f**king scope on it,” Dana White said.
Dana and Trump’s friendship goes a long way — Trump saved UFC when it was in trouble by hosting multiple events at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City — long before Trump came to politics. When Trump launched his first presidential campaign in 2015, Dana White was one of the first public figures to endorse him.
Dana was there at the Republican National Convention, at the Madison Square Garden rally before the election, and also at the election victory gathering and then at the UFC at MSG.
As Trump is now nominating people for his future administration, Dana White asserted that he wanted no part in politics. “I’m in the fight business, which is the dirtiest, nastiest business. We all hate each other and we’re all fighting every day. There is nothing dirtier than politics. It’s disgusting. It’s gross. I want nothing to do with it,” Dana recently said.
