Deepika Padukone makes her first modak as Vikas Khanna celebrates Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar success in New York

MasterChef Vikas Khanna recently hosted Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone at his New York restaurant, Bungalow, turning the couple’s year-end vacation into a celebration of two milestones — Deepika’s first-ever modak and Ranveer’s record-breaking film Dhurandhar.Calling it a moment of cultural pride and gratitude, Vikas wrote, “This has to be the most blessed end to 2025 — a new beginning in honour of India.”

‘Her first modak’

Sharing a Reel from the evening, Vikas revealed that the gathering was specially organised to mark Deepika Padukone’s first experience of making a modak, a sweet traditionally associated with auspicious beginnings.“Team Bungalow had the privilege of celebrating with Ranveer & Deepika — her first modak,” he wrote. The video shows the chef guiding the actor couple through the process, with Deepika shaping the modak for the first time as Ranveer watches closely. Vikas later feeds the couple freshly made modaks, adding to the intimate and symbolic nature of the moment.

Celebrating Dhurandhar

The evening also doubled up as a celebration of Ranveer Singh’s latest release. Highlighting the film’s extraordinary run, Vikas wrote, “Celebrating DHURANDHAR — standing taller than any film in the world.”Released on December 5, Dhurandhar has crossed the Rs 1100 crore mark worldwide, emerging as one of the biggest box office successes of the year.

‘An auspicious beginning to 2026’

Extending the celebration beyond the couple, Vikas announced that all guests visiting Bungalow that day were treated to pomegranate and cardamom modaks. “All our guests walking into Bungalow today will enjoy pomegranate & cardamom modaks for an auspicious beginning to 2026,” he shared.Explaining the symbolism, he noted that modaks are offered to Lord Ganesha and signify “auspicious beginnings, prosperity, wisdom, and blessings,” while pomegranate is considered sacred for “health and wellbeing.”Sharing a deeply personal reflection, Vikas added, “Standing in front of my parents’ wedding picture and creating modaks from the moulds I just got from Siddhivinayak Temple… I’m truly humbled.”

What’s next for Ranveer and Deepika

Earlier this week, fans spotted Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone spending time with their family during their New York trip, with pictures and videos surfacing online. Deepika also attended a Backstreet Boys concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas with her friend Sneha Ramachander. While Ranveer continues to ride high on the success of Dhurandhar, Deepika, who was last seen in Fighter, Kalki 2898 AD and Singham Again, will next be seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s King and Atlee’s upcoming film with Allu Arjun.
