Andrea Botez opens up about her hearing diagnosis and the possible cause

Andrea Botez explained her situation in detail in her post on X. She wrote, “About a week ago, I lost hearing in my left ear. The cause was ‘unknown’ & there’s a 1/3 chance it will fully recover, but I’m optimistic about treatment. This is your reminder to take hearing protection seriously”. On the same day, she also shared a video on YouTube titled I lost my hearing. In the video, she spoke about the hearing test she underwent after she noticed sudden hearing loss. She stated that she “practically can’t hear any high frequencies.”She then described the stressful process of trying to get medical help quickly. The chess star said she spent days calling her healthcare provider to get an urgent appointment with a specialist. Botez said, “So, I get my hearing tests, go over the results with my cousin, and I practically can’t hear any high frequencies. So, my hearing is not completely gone, but a big chunk of it is. And I spend all day on the phone, calling my healthcare, trying to get me into an emergency ENT. The day before Thanksgiving, I can get a slot, which ironically was booked for two weeks ahead. So, I call my healthcare, and I push, and I say, ‘This is urgent, I’m in a short time frame. I’m already a week late into my treatment, by the way, having not been on steroids for a week,’ when you’re supposed to act within 72 hours, if it is sudden sensory hearing loss.”For now, the 23-year-old says she remains hopeful about recovery. After facing the consequences of wanting to feel the bass in her bones, Botez now urges her fans to take care of themselves.
