A shocking incident took place at an international airport in Moscow when a man suddenly grabbed an 18-month-old boy and violently threw him to the ground. The child suffered severe skull fractures and spinal injuries and is now fighting for his life in a coma. The toddler and his pregnant mother had just arrived in Russia after fleeing the conflict in Iran. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Vladimir Vitkov from Belarus, was promptly detained by authorities following the attack.Investigation and Suspect’s BackgroundFollowing the assault, preliminary investigations revealed that Vitkov had cannabis in his bloodstream, and reports indicate that additional drugs were also found in test. Police believe drug intoxication played a significant role in the violent incident. The injured boy was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition. His mother was nearby at the time of the attack.Official Response and ChargesKsenia Mishonova, the Moscow Region Children’s Ombudswoman, condemned the assault, describing Vitkov as a “monster” and expressing hope that he faces the full weight of the law. “This is incredibly difficult to bear,” she said. “I wish the child a speedy recovery and hope the parents find the strength to endure this tragedy.”Vitkov is currently under investigation for attempted murder. Authorities are also examining whether the attack was racially motivated or influenced by other factors.
