Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency recently announced that the health department cancelled more than $180 million in contracts including a nearly $170,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci museum exhibit. “Can you believe your taxpayer dollars were being spent on a Fauci exhibit,” Elon Musk said reacting.
Elon Musk is a known Fauci hater and the targeted action comes as Elon Musk’s DOGE is looking into the expenditure of all departments and cutting down the costs in its one-year target of reducing the federal expenditure.
“In the past 48 hours, HHS canceled 62 contract [sic] worth $182 million,” The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) announced in a Friday social media post. “These contracts were entirely for administrative expenses – none touched any healthcare programs. This included terminating a $168,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum.”
What is the Fauci exhibit? According to a Fox News report, the Fauci exhibit was booked to be finished by July 2025.
Fauci has often clashed with Donald Trump who served in his administration during the first term. Last month, President Trump revoked Fauci’s security protection though he had faced death threats since leading the Covid-19 response. “You can’t have a security detail for the rest of your life because you work for government,” Trump said adding that these people can hire their own private security team with the huge money they made.
Dr Fauci was previously protected by federal marshals, and then a private security company, which was paid for by the government, according to the New York Times.
Former president Joe Biden issued a preemptive pardon for Fauci though he was not charged with any crime but Fauci accepted the pardon. “Let me be perfectly clear, I have committed no crime and there are no possible grounds for any allegation or threat of criminal investigation or prosecution of me,” Fauci said.
