A federal employee at a town hall meeting alleged that a senior associate of Elon Musk‘s DOGE has taken up residence in a federal agency building with his family.
“One of Musk’s top lieutenants and wife and young child have shacked up on the sixth floor of our agency and are living there,” the unnamed employee said. The employee further said that their corridor has reportedly “been blocked off with a special access list.”
This was brough up during a Monday evening meeting organised by Democratic Rep. Suhas Subramanyam in Leesburg, Virginia, near Washington DC. The Loudoun Times-Mirror reported approximately 300 attendees, including federal workers, contractors and retired government employees.
Participants voiced concerns about Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency‘s pledge to reduce federal spending by “at least 10%” within a year, potentially resulting in significant job losses. However, the allegation about the DOGE official’s residential arrangement garnered the most attention.
The speaker, who admitted feeling anxious about addressing the gathering, mentioned learning about Musk’s intentions to halve his agency’s budget and staff.
During the previous week, Elon Musk visited our premises and subsequently mandated a 50% reduction across the entire agency,” the man said. “My associates are undergoing brief 15-minute individual assessments with recent university graduates aged 19, 20, and 21, who are questioning their roles’ necessity.”
The individual disclosed that supervisors received a “justification form” with strict instructions “not to tell their staff anything” regarding internal developments.
Recent news coverage aligns with these statements about DOGE’s operations, where a predominantly young male engineering team, including someone as young as 19, assists Musk in restructuring government sectors through unconventional approaches.
Regarding accommodation arrangements, these young professionals might have adopted Musk’s practice of office-based sleeping arrangements. The Billionaire claims to maintain this routine in Washington while working and maintaining his social media presence continuously.
At 53, Musk reportedly sleeps in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, situated near the White House. Recently, his team at DOGE headquarters received a delivery of “sleep pods”.
