US PresidentDonald Trump, on Monday, extended his greetings for Diwali, emphasizing its significance as a time for unity and celebration. In a statement, President Trump conveyed his best wishes to all Americans partaking in the festivities, highlighting Diwali as a “timeless reminder of light’s victory over darkness.““Today, I send my best wishes to every American celebrating Diwali—the “Festival of Lights.”

He noted that the festival serves as an opportunity for families and friends to come together, celebrate community, and draw strength from hope, while embracing a spirit of renewal. “For many Americans, Diwali is a timeless reminder of light’s victory over darkness. It is also a time to bring families and friends together to celebrate community, draw strength from hope, and embrace a lasting spirit of renewal. As millions of citizens light diyas and lanterns, we rejoice in the eternal truth that good will always triumph over evil,” he said.

He wished for the observance to bring serenity, prosperity, hope, and peace to all who celebrate. “To every American celebrating Diwali, may this observance bring abiding serenity, prosperity, hope, and peace,” he added to his statement, published on White House website.Diwali is gaining official recognition across the US, with states like New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Texas, and from 2026, California, becoming the first on West Coast, including the festival in school calendars or as a state holiday. Diwali is celebrated with traditional lamps, sweets, and family gatherings. In the United States, millions from the Indian diaspora observe the festival, preserving their cultural heritage while sharing its message of light, hope, and goodness with their communities.
