FBI foils 'potential terrorist attack' on Halloween, says Kash Patel; multiple arrested

A potential terrorist attack planned for Halloween weekend in Michigan was foiled after federal agents arrested several suspects in a major operation, FBI director Kash Patel announced on Friday.Patel confirmed the arrests in a post on X: “This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend.”He praised law enforcement officials involved in the operation: “More details to come. Thanks to the men and women of FBI and law enforcement everywhere standing guard 24/7 and crushing our mission to defend the homeland.”FBI has not yet revealed the identities of the suspects or the nature of the planned attack. Patel’s statement suggested that the operation was carried out early Friday morning across several parts of Michigan.Agents from the FBI’s Detroit field office were seen conducting “law enforcement activities” in Dearborn and Inkster, both near Detroit, according to a spokesperson for FBI Detroit. The spokesperson also told The Independent that “there is no current threat to public safety.”Local authorities in Dearborn issued a similar reassurance, saying that the situation was under control and there was no danger to residents. “We want to assure our residents that there is no threat to the community at this time,” the Dearborn Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. “The Dearborn Police Department remains committed to the safety and security of all who live, work, and visit our city.”
