Mark Sanchez was stabbed in Indianapolis.

Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was stabbed early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis and is currently hospitalized in stable condition, according to Fox. Police from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded around 12:30 a.m. to reports of a disturbance in an alley near West Washington Street and North Senate Avenue, where they found two people injured, one of them identified as Sanchez. A suspect has been detained, authorities confirmed.Fox Sports released a statement later in the day:“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition. We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”Sanchez, 38, was transported to a nearby hospital immediately after the incident. While initial reports described his condition as critical, he is now said to be stable and recovering. He had been in Indianapolis for his work as a Fox Sports broadcaster, scheduled to call the upcoming Colts vs. Raiders game at Lucas Oil Stadium. Before his broadcasting career, Sanchez spent 10 seasons in the NFL, most notably with the New York Jets, who selected him fifth overall in the 2009 NFL Draft.Police have not released details about the motive or events leading to the stabbing, and the investigation remains ongoing.
