The Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena took a swipe at Uddhav Thackeray over his last row seating at Rahul Gandhi’s dinner meeting, prompting a war of words with Shiv Sena UBT, which said that their leader was made to sit in the front, but he moved back on his own.

Rahul Gandhi had held a presentation in front of the Opposition leaders at a dinner meet over alleged electoral fraud by the Election Commission of India.

In the picture shared by Maharashtra BJP, Uddhav, his son Aaditya, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut were seen sitting in the last row, as Rahul Gandhi gave a presentation on the screen.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde mocked Uddhav and said that Congress had shown Thackerays their place.

“Those who give up their self-respect and abandon Bal Thackeray’s ideals won’t feel anything about this insult. Congress has shown them their place,” Shinde said.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took a jibe at Uddhav, stating that when he was a part of the NDA, he was always made to sit in the front row.

“For us, his respect always came before our own. We have realised what kind of respect and honour he gets there,” Fadnavis said.

Fadnavis pointed out that Uddhav often said he would never bow before Delhi.

“Look at the situation now—they’re not even in power. It’s sad. When he was with us, he always sat in the front row,” he added.

The Maharashtra BJP also mocked Shiv Sena UBT leaders in the picture.

“Find and show the self-respect in this photo,” the post captioned.

Responding to the BJP, Raut said Uddhav had a front-row seat but moved back to see the presentation screen more clearly.

“We were sitting in the front, but the TV screen was straining our eyes, so we shifted to the back. Look at other photos of Uddhav ji — Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi welcomed him and his family to their home,” the Rajya Sabha MP said.
