A German police officer on Sunday shot and killed a man who threatened people with a knife outside a night club in the northern city of Oldenburg.
The man also used an “irritant gas” against two night club employees, and later, on a group of police officers.

Police said in a statement, “Law enforcement opened an investigation into the 27-year-old officer who fired several shots at the 21-year-old man in Oldenburg. The man died from his wounds in hospital.”
The statement added, “After being turned away from the club, the suspect sprayed an irritant gas in the direction of two security employees and several people suffered light injuries.”
A few people began chasing the suspect. However, they stopped when he threatened them with a knife.

The man got away from a first group of police officers dispatched to the scene, but then ran into another patrol. He “advanced in a threatening way” toward police officers, spraying “irritant gas” at them, leading the officer “to use his arm.”
The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday.
Police hunt for suspect after two Turkish men killed
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two Turkish citizens were shot dead in a residential area of Hasse state’s Bad Nauheim on Saturday, prompting the police to begin a manhunt for one or more suspects.
The deceased were identified as a 59-year-old man and his 28-year-old son-in-law.
Hessenschau, a regional publication linked to a public broadcaster, reported that a large police contingent was deployed after the shootings. Locals indicated special forces had been sent to the site, along with emergency vehicles and a police helicopter.
